Meet the Team

Richard Kember 'The Boss'

Richard Kember ‘The Boss’

Starting his trade as a Shipwright at Whisstocks before acquiring the marina, Richard developed the marina from a mud hole accommodating just 20 boats in 1985 into one of the premier marinas on the East Coast, whilst maintaining its independence.  With over 25 years experience of the River Deben he is considered a true local amongst the local boating fraternity. Hands on and with a wealth of experience, Richard can be seen driving the crane, welcoming visitors and is happy to help you with any aspect of the marina’s activities.

Mark 'Coops'

Mark ‘Coops’

Mark is the Marina Manager who has been with us for 12 years and has over 25 years experience in the marine industry.  Mark has also recently taken on the role of Technical Sales Manager for Propspeed UK Ltd, based at the Tidemill.

Mark is a good source of local information and can often be found following the ‘historic tour of Woodbridge’ encompassing The Anchor, The Mariners, The Crown etc.

Mike 'The Pipe'

Mike ‘The Pipe’

If you can’t find him, look for the smoke signals… Mike is the Harbour Master and can often be found in the workboat in and among the pontoons.

Whilst Mark is a big fan of GRP, Mike is more the Old Wooden Smack type.. When Mike wins the lottery, he’s going to buy 300 gallons of black tar, but we’re not sure if that’s for caulking a Bawley Trawler or for the pipe!

Steve 'Sparky'

Steve ‘Sparky’

Steve is a round Britain sailor, musician and a demon with a voltmeter!  With vast knowledge of marine electronics, Steve can assist with installations, diagnostics and fault finding.

Whether you require installation of a modern navigation system, your autopilot needs upgrading or your GPS sorted, Steve is your man!

Stuart 'Spanners'

Stuart ‘Spanners’

Stuart is the latest member to join the team and is already proving his worth as the Tidemill’s resident Engineer; with over 20 years experience of marine engineering, fuel injection, electrics and heating systems such as Webasto and Eberspacher.

Stuart coaches a local youth football team and also enjoys a spot of fishing!

Caroline 'Giggles'

Caroline ‘Giggles’

Caroline is a new face at the Tidemill and is assisting with the day to day running of the marina and Propspeed, working alongside ‘Coops’ and ‘The Boss’.

With the nickname Giggles, you may hear her coming before you see her!
