Meet the Team
We are a small friendly team, whose total experience and knowledge of all things nautical exceeds 120 years. Our individual skill sets complement each other’s, enabling us to support our clients with all their needs and queries. We like to work hard, but also enjoy socialising out of hours and we will often all be found down the local after work enjoying a ‘bevy’ or two.
Richard Kember ‘The Boss’
An experienced shipwright, Richard acquired the marina in 1985, when it was just a mudflat, accommodating 20 boats and since then has worked to develop it into one of the most sought-after independent marinas on the East Coast, boasting over 200 berths. With a wealth of experience and still very hands on, Richard is ready to assist with any aspect of the marina’s activities.
Mark ‘Coops’
Mark is the Marina Manager and has been with us for over 25 years. He has over 35 years’ experience in the marine industry, which is evident in his accomplished abilities and craftsmanship’s eye for detail. Mark is a good source of local information and, when he’s not cycling, can often be found following the ‘historic tour of Woodbridge’ encompassing a variety of local pubs.
Henry 'known as Henry!'
You may well recognise Henry as he spent many weekends helping at the marina in his youth. Now a family man, he is a fully qualified Mechanical Engineer accomplished in all aspects of engineering. His workmanship and expertise are an artistry and although his speciality is hydraulics, his skills with a welder are also exemplary. Keen to help and advise, Henry’s your man!
April 'The spreadsheet queen'
Our Company Secretary, April is here to ensure our administrations run as smoothly as possible, dealing with the A-Z of the marina, between Administration’s to Year End (Okay A-Y!) and everything in-between, you’ll find her busy in the office, a whiz with a spreadsheet, ensuring compliance across all processes. Her cakes and sausage rolls are non-too shabby either!
That guy named Guy
Guy is our latest recruit and brings an expediential amount of knowledge to the Team. He has sailed the seas gleaning a lot of skill and knowledge, troubleshooting issues while battling with high seas, to finally dock at our harbour.
Recently obtaining his marine electricians certificate Guy is focusing mainly on the electrical side of the Tidemill’s requirements, while supporting the Harbour Master’s role
A bit of a highflyer, he will often be seen suspended in a harness at the top of a mast.
Ross ‘The Harbour Master’
The most recent member of the team, Ross came on board in 2021 as our Harbour Master, after Mike the Pipe retired. A qualified engineer with nearly 20years experience within the marina industry, Ross is very accomplished in overseeing arrivals and accommodating visitors requirements, ensuring they have a memorable stay at the marina.
Ryan
A colourful character Ryan sets his own style and will often be seen around the harbour with a unique and colourful new style.
With a lot of shipwright experience Ryan supports our resident hull and deck guru Mark. He’s also a dab hand with the boat hoist and you’ll often see him assisting with boat movements, when he hasn’t got his head buried in marking out, prepping or painting a hull
